After two miraculous finishes in all-time epic matches, the final for the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur is set.
Michigan State’s Brooke Biermann will face off against Stanford’s Megha Ganne in the 36-hole final match of the U.S. Women’s Amateur starting this morning at Bandon Dunes in Oregon.
Biermann’s final four round was typical of the rest of her week, being her third extra holes match in five rounds. Biermann looked to be in cruise control against the young player from Kansas Lyla Louderbaugh. Biermann led by three with four holes remaining, but Louderbaugh closed that gap immediately, forcing a playoff. Biermann made par to win that final playoff hole and advance to the finals.
Megha Ganne was on the opposite side, trying to mount a furious comeback against Australian Ella Scaysbrook. Ganne, one of the most prominent amateurs in the world, so much so that she is in commercials with Nelly Korda and Rickie Fowler, was four down with seven to play. She pulled off the miracle she needed though.
Ganne won four of the last seven holes, then clinched the match with a win in the first playoff hole. It was the first real time Ganne has been tested this week. Ganne can follow in her college teammate Rose Zhang’s footsteps now as a champion of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship.
PREDICTION: Megha Ganne has been known to many fans of the LPGA since she was in heavy competition to win the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open. It is now her time to win one of the great USGA titles and set herself up for a great final season at Stanford. She wins this relatively early on Sunday.
