The LPGA Tour is now going on year six of playing at Shadow Creek, one of the most acclaimed and prestigious golf courses in the United States. An absolute gem located just a short drive off the Las Vegas strip. It is a partnership that absolutely must continue.
Shadow Creek is currently the highest ranked non-ocean course in the Golf Digest top 100 Public Courses in the United States, ranking at No. 3 behind only Pebble Beach and Pacific Dunes. It is one of the most exclusive public courses in the world, with a reservation at an MGM Resort as one of the conditions to play. It will certainly cost you as well, with greens fees over $1000 per player.
They certainly give top-notch service though from top-to-bottom. It is hard to really ever say a round of golf is or isn’t worth that much money, it more just depends on the individual person and how they value a great round with great amenities. Having played it myself, it is a level of luxury that few (if any courses) can compare to.
You are picked up at your hotel and driven to the course, that driver will also drive you back. When you arrive, staff and caddies are waiting outside to take your bags and put them on your cart, waiting just for your arrival. The clubhouse is beautiful, reminiscent of the iconic one that stands at Augusta National.

Shadow Creek is about as lush as golf courses get, which is ironic since it sits in the middle of the desert in Nevada, but that’s also a bit of what makes it so special. The drone shots this week on the LPGA Tour coverage are a bit misleading, showing large buildings, neighborhoods and busy streets right to the side of the players. While on that course, you don’t see or hear any activity. It feels like you are truly in the middle of a forest.
The LPGA has hit major gold playing yearly on this course. The air of mystery surrounding such an exclusive course should bring all golf fans in, whether they watch the LPGA Tour on a weekly basis or not. The new drones that were so hyped by the LPGA in the preseason are doing their work this week showcasing how beautiful and unique Shadow Creek is.
The course is also playing exactly how it should, scores have been high and may make some players look a bit silly, but if you can limit mistakes, there could be some low scores in your future.
Whatever form this tournament takes in the future, it must remain at one of American Golf’s greatest treasures.
