There wasn’t a whole lot of red on the board Saturday at the Curtis Cup, as the team from Great Britain and Ireland took a two point lead heading into the final day.
In the early foursomes, the team of Rachel Kuehn and Melanie Green played the top ranked amateur in the world Lottie Woad and Sara Byrne to a halve. GB&I got the first of many points on the board in the second half, as Hannah Darling and Aine Donegan outlasted Anna Davis and Megan Schofill, winning 1 up.
The lone point of the day for the United States came in the third match of the morning, as Zoe Campos (above) and Catherine Park teamed up to defeat Beth Coulter and Patience Rhodes 2 & 1.
Afternoon fourball belonged to GB&I, as it looked at one point like they may sweep the session.
Hannah Darling and Mimi Rhodes took care of business against Americans Jasmine Koo and Asterisk Talley, winning 3&2. Though the highlight of the day for either team was 15-year-old Talley nearly having an ace on the par 4 ninth hole.
In the second match out, Beth Coulter and Lorna McClymont took control early over Anna Davis and Melanie Green, taking a lead on hole six and never letting it go.
The United States finally found some momentum in the anchor match, as the clutch putting of Rachel Kuehn and Megan Schofill was enough to earn a comeback halve to end the day against Lottie Woad and Sara Byrne.
