Through two sessions of play on Friday morning, the 2024 Curtis Cup is all tied up at 3-3.
The every other year event pits the best amateurs from the United States against the best players from Great Britain and Ireland in a bit of a preview of future Solheim Cups to come.
The United States team, captained by Meghan Stasi, got off to a good start in the morning foursomes, thanks in large part to Melanie Green and Rachel Kuehn’s dominant 6&4 victory over Patience Rhodes and Mimi Rhodes. Jasmine Koo and Zoe Campos halved Aine Donegan and Beth Coulter in the second match out. Finally, the match that featured arguably the most prominent American, Asterisk Talley, playing alongside Catherine Park, and the most prominent GBI player, Lottie Woad, playing with Sara Byrne also halved.
Fourball gave some more interesting results, but once again featuring a United States blowout. In the second match out, Talley and Koo defeated Mimi Rhodes and Lorna McClymont 5&4, and it was never close as the United States was four up thru six. Woad and Byrne bounced back, defeating Park and Campos in the third match 2&1.
The first match out in the afternoon was actually the last to finish, featuring a powerful team made up of 2022 Augusta National Women’s Am champion Anna Davis (above) and 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion Megan Schofill for the United States. They took on Hannah Darling and Aine Donegan, who pulled off the 1 Up upset.
The 2024 Curtis Cup continues Saturday morning on Peacock and Golf Channel.
