Miyu Yamashita won her fourth-career LPGA Tour event at the CPKC Women’s Canadian Open by a startling nine strokes over her countrywoman Yuri Yoshida, finishing at -23 for the week.
Yamashita came into the final round with a comfortable six-stroke lead, and put pressure on the field right away with a birdie on the second hole. After a bogey on the fourth, she recovered with three birdies on the next four holes.
By the time the back nine rolled around, any questions of who would win were completely silenced. Yamashita made another birdie on 12, followed by a bogey on five and a closing birdie on 18 to absolutely lap the field. For the week, Yamashita shot 62, 64 65, 66.
Despite being traditionally one of the most accurate players on the LPGA Tour, which allows her to win despite ranking outside the top 140 in driving distance, Yamashita hit just 41/56 fairways on the week and only seven fairways. Her putting was elite though all week, with only 103 putts for the full week. That helped her make 28 birdies.
Yamashita’s final score for the week tied the LPGA Tour single-event scoring record based on pure strokes at 257. It was eight short though of Sei Young Kim’s record -31, because this week played as a par 70.
This was Yamashita’s fourth win of her career in just two seasons and second win of 2026. Yamashita now ranks No. 3 in the CME Standings, thanks to nine top-10 finishes and only two missed cuts.
