Anyone who watches the LPGA Tour consistently has expected more this year out of the Swedish emerging star from Arizona State, Linn Grant. Grant has every single tool to be a top-five player on the tour, but has largely underachieved in 2024. That is looking to change this week.
Grant won the 2023 Dana Open by three strokes, mostly propelled by her incredible third round 62. It was her first and only win on the LPGA Tour so far, though she has six wins on the LET since 2022. One of those wins came this year at the Scandinavian Mixed Championship, in one of the most chaotic results of the year.
Grant sits one back of Chanettee Wannasean at -10 through two rounds. She shot -4 in the opening round and -6 in the second.
Predictably, Grant’s ball-striking has been immaculate, averaging 283 yards off the tee and hitting 20/28 fairways. In round two, her short game improved immesely, cutting her putts down from 28 to 23. Her score improved by two strokes despite hitting three less greens.
Grant is an absolute lock to make the European Solheim Cup team this year, as she is arguably the most talented player on tour eligible for that squad. Some good results would undoubtedly boost her confidence though, which would be dangerous for the United States team.
