The first two rounds of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine are in the books. Get caught up for the weekend here:
- Ina Yoon is lapping the field in a way very reminiscent of Nelly Korda’s dominance in Houston at the first major of the season. Yoon has a five-stroke lead and has looked nearly perfect, save for a late bogey Friday. Yoon was terrific on the front nine, but her game slowing on the back kept her lead somewhat in check. That being said, if she even shoots -1 each of the next two rounds, it is hard to see anyone catching her.
- Nelly Korda has kept her chances of winning a third consecutive major alive, making her 34th cut in a row. Her last missed cut was in this event in 2024. She sits six strokes back in a tie for sixth place, but is only one stroke back of second. Like the rest of the field, she likely needs Ina Yoon to make some major mistakes to keep this major win streak alive, but she has a shot. Korda isn’t too worried, she said that from experience, she knows how difficult holding on to a large lead is.
- Haeran Ryu is showing no signs of rust after a month away from the Tour. She looks energized and in some fantastic form. She sits just five strokes back of the lead at -7.
- Brooke Henderson looks back on track at -7 looking for her third major championship. She has struggled all season but is showing the ability that made her one of the biggest stars in the game.
- Nicole Felce became the first PGA/LPGA Professional to make the cut in this event since 2019. She will tee it up with major champion Sung Hyun Park.
- Defending champion Minjee Lee, Hazeltine winner Hannah Green and Charley Hull, all popular picks this week, each missed the cut by one stroke.
- While the lead is large, there is a lot of pressure for Yoon, who has had weekend struggles in the past. She appears to be one of the rising stars on the Tour and has shown flashes. It is time for her to finish over the weekend, with a stacked leaderboard right behind her.
