The University of Tulsa women’s golf team won the Nexus Invitational thanks to collapses from Kentucky and Iowa State in the final round.
Kentucky came into the final round with a lead at +3, but that score ballooned after the team shot +15 on Wednesday. That includes star Jensen Castle having a quadruple bogey on 18.
Iowa State didn’t fare much better, entering the final round in second place, the Cyclones shot +12 for the day to finish in a tie for second with the Wildcats. Every player for Iowa State was over par for the day.
These big numbers by the leading teams opened the door for the Golden Hurricanes, who came into the day in fourth place, but shot +4 as a team to take the title. Texas A&M transfer Allyn Stephens carried the team, shooting -2 on Wednesday, her only round under par for the tournament.
Tulsa is ranked No. 46 in the country and next plays at the Icon Invitational hosted by Houston.
