Charley Hull has been playing in the Solheim Cup since since she was just 18 years old, and hasn’t stopped yet. Come the beginning of her first match Friday, she will be taking part in her seventh consecutive appearance. Hull is synonymous with the European Solheim Cup team, and that isn’t likely to change soon.
In total, Hull has amassed an impressive 12-7-3 record in Solheim Cup play. She was the top qualifier for the team and at No. 12 in the Rolex Rankings, is the second highest ranked European in the world behind Celine Boutier. 2023 was the only year Hull left with a losing record in six appearances.
Hull is particularly strong in the partner formats of the Solheim Cup. She is both 5-2-1 in foursomes and four ball. While she isn’t as strong in singles, 2-3-1, she still isn’t weak in the format overall. Hull has paired up with Emily Pedersen in the past, going 2-2 across both formats. Expect her to be paired with Georgia Hall at least once this year, the two only have played one match together in the Solheim Cup, but are close friends who know each other’s games better than anyone.
Hull’s 2024 season has been decent, despite being a let down from her fantastic 2023. She has four top-10 finishes with no wins, but has been rounding into solid form late with some good recent performances in Europe. She’s most known for her ball-striking, arguably the best on Europe, particularly off the tee. She’s also perhaps the most aggressive player in the world, which can work well particularly in four ball.
