The Solheim Cup teams are all set with the finalization of the American team Monday. Over the next two weeks leading into the competition, we will rank all 24 players in the Solheim Cup for both teams, continuing today with Julia López Ramirez
Europe is getting younger this year. There are four players on this European team that would be the either the youngest or second youngest player on the United States. We’ve already discussed two of them with Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud, and now we are moving on to our third, Julia López Ramirez.
Unlike Rhodes and Nadaud, López Ramirez was fairly locked into position on this team as a super high upside, potential future stalwart. While López Ramirez had some huge moments in 2025, including a great performance at the U.S. Women’s Open and a near win at the Scottish Open.
While López Ramirez hasn’t had those big moments in 2026, she did have a really strong start to the season with top 25 finishes in three of the first four events of the year. While she has made 12/18 cuts, she’s hit a slow patch as of late with missed cuts in four of the last six starts, though had a good performance once again in Scotland.
López Ramirez, who is just 23-years-old, is known for one attribute in particular, her power. López Ramirez is No. 2 on the Tour in driving distance average and is fourth overall in strokes gained off the tee. That could be a massive weapon for Europe especially on a course that appears forgiving to longer hitters.
López Ramirez has the clear talent to be a superstar on this team, but has struggled the entire year on the greens. She went from 51st on the Tour in putting in 2025 but ranks No. 134 in 2026. Pairing her with a strong short game player like Leona Maguire may be a good strategy.
Europe certainly has a lot of young players with a lot of upside. If players like López Ramirez perform well, it might be tough for the Americans to retain the Cup. Regardless, López Ramirez has just shown too much inconsistency as of late and doesn’t yet have experience, so she ranks here at 21.
