The Solheim Cup teams are all set with the finalization of the American team Monday. Over the next two weeks leading into the competition, we will rank all 24 players in the Solheim Cup for both teams, continuing with Maja Stark
Maja Stark, very quietly, has eased many of my concerns about her game in 2026. Despite not making huge headlines, she has covered up a major weakness, that has me confident about her Solheim Cup prospects.
Stark’s talent has always been super high, she’s one of just four major champions in this field and has been in close contention at more. She has two LPGA Tour wins and six LET wins. She has five top-10 finishes in majors in the last four years. Her ability has never been a question.
Her consistency? It certainly has been. In her first three seasons on the LPGA Tour, she has missed 19 cuts and certainly can go up-and-down from week to week. In 2026 though? She has cleaned that up a lot. Stark has just three missed cuts this year and has been fairly consistently in the 10-40 range on the leaderboard.
The negative there? Her last two events have been among those three missed cuts.
She took the week off in Boston, which was probably necessary to reset and get some rest heading into her third Solheim Cup.
The 26-year-old from Sweden has been a very solid performer for Europe. She went 2-1-1 in 2023, and beat Allisen Corpuz, one of the best players on the United States, in singles. She went 1-2-1 in 2024, but really grinded out a halve against the excellent Lauren Coughlin.
Stark is versatile, which helps out on a team that has a lot of format specialists. While she is stronger on foursomes, I wouldn’t have any concern with her playing a fourball match. She seems like one of the most guaranteed players to go all four rounds, and maybe even all five. That is valuable.
