The final qualifying for the 2024 AIG Women’s Open didn’t come easy for many, as an 11-way playoff determined the final three spots.
At Crail Golfing Society in Fife, the final 12 spots in the AIG Women’s Open were on the line, and the first nine were easily determined.

This left 11 players in a tie for 10th place at -1. Among them were Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Stephanie Meadow and Solheim Cup star Caroline Hedwall. All three players could have used this spot to make one final push to make team Europe.
Shadoff was the first to advance from the playoff. The 36-year-old from England has had one of the more underrated careers over recent seasons. Shadoff has made three Solheim Cups, the Tokyo Olympics and three International Crowns. This will be her 12th Open appearance.
Meadow, a three-time Olympian from Ireland, also qualified for what will be her seventh Open Championship start. Meadow’s best finish in this championship is a tie for 39th place, but she has overachieved in other majors with three top 10s.
Finland’s Ursula Wilkström was the final player to qualify here. Wilkström is a two-time Olympian, including just two weeks ago. Wilkström doesn’t have a lot of major championship experience, only ever having appeared in the Open previously, where her best finish is a tie for 46.
The field is now set before the historic AIG Women’s Open at The Old Course kicks off.
