Michelle Wie West, the iconic ambassador for women’s golf and a five-time LPGA Tour winner, will be adding more responsibilities to her job as tournament host of the Mizuho Americas Open this year.
Wie West announced Tuesday that she will be making her return to the LPGA Tour after almost three years at the Mizuho Americas Open. Since its inception as a tournament in 2023, Wie West has acted as the tournament host for an event that has developed into one of the most popular on the Tour.
Across its three playings, Mizuho has an incredible trio of winners, including Rose Zhang’s debut victory, and wins from Nelly Korda and Jeeno Thitikul.
This year, the event will be moving away from Liberty National to Mountain Ridge Country Club, about 20 miles from New York City.
Wie West officially retired from the LPGA Tour after playing in the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach, but previously announced her intentions to return for the U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. She will also be one of the players in the initial field of WTGL players, which kicks off later this fall.
The Mizuho Americas Open will be played the first week of May.
