Heading into the final round of the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, the leaderboard is dominated by the stellar 2025 LPGA Tour rookie class.
Setting the pace so far is Jenny Bae, a 23-year-old Georgia native and graduate. Bae got started super fast in tough conditions Saturday, making birdies on her first three holes of play. From there it was all about surviving the round on the super tough golf course.
After the first three holes, Bae made 13 pars and two bogeys the rest of the way in, including a six on the par 5 18. She generally played smart throughout the day, finding 11 fairways and leaning on her strong putter, which has been on fire this week.
One back from Bae are 19-year-old Yahui Zhang of China and 22-year-old Chisato Iwai of Japan. Both of whom had terrific -4 68s in tough conditions Saturday.
Zhang made five birdies including on the final two holes to get into contention Saturday. She played controlled golf and made a lot of putts in round three to get her first round in the 60s of the week.
Iwai on the other hand certainly wasn’t playing as flawless as her scorecard may show. Despite making four birdies with no dropped shots, Iwai only hit seven fairways, but turned that into 14 greens hit in regulation and perfect scrambling when she did miss.
Also in contention and looking for her first win is former amateur standout Gabi Ruffels, who is just two back in solo fourth.
