Hyo Joo Kim and Nelly Korda have separated themselves from the rest of the LPGA Tour at the Ford Championship. This isn’t the first time in the last two weeks that has been the case. Kim and Korda are dominating for the second week in a row.
Kim played like she usually does. Fairways. Greens.
Hyo Joo, the No. 4 player in the world, was unbelievable. Kim made nine birdies and an eagle without a single dropped shot. She came into the day two strokes back and exited four strokes up. That wasn’t the fault of Korda, just Kim’s incredible play.
Kim hit 15 greens and had only 25 putts. Through three rounds, Kim has only had 80 total putts. Kim shot an incredible -11 61 in the traditionally tougher afternoon wave. She is the first player to shoot 61 or better twice in one week.
Korda played to her typically fantastic standard, coming in with a two-stroke lead, shot -5 and enters the final round four strokes back. That is not only unusual, it is absurd.
Kim and Korda have separated themselves from the field. Korda is four strokes back but five strokes ahead of fifth place.
Kim and Korda will play for the sixth round in a row dating back to last week. Korda and Kim are two fantastic major champions, with very different styles who are playing at their absolute peaks. This is a very fun run for two of the best in the game.
The LPGA record for lowest 72 hole score is -31, that record feels in play so far.
