With one round left to play at the 2026 Australian Open, one of the country’s greatest players holds a one-stroke lead.
Green shot a third round -4 68 to take the lead over Magdalena Simmermacher from Argentina. Simmermacher is looking for her first professional win on a major tour, but she is no stranger to playing against the world’s best. She represented Argentina at the Tokyo Olympics and played on the LPGA Tour in 2023.
She faces a tough scenario trying to out duel Green, ranked No. 9 in the Rolex Rankings and certainly will be playing with the home crowd on her side. Green has been on a roll lately despite not having her usual caddie, David Buhai. Instead, her husband Jarryd Felton, a professional golfer himself, is on her bag.
Green made three quick birdies before her first dropped shot on the eighth hole. She immediately made up for it though with a birdie on the ninth, but quickly lost that gained stroke with another bogey on 10.
She once again made up for it immediately though with a birdie on 11, she had one more birdie on 16 but made all pars otherwise.
The 29-year-old Green is a seven-time winner on the LPGA Tour, but hasn’t won on the LET before.
