Hannah Green, the No. 9 ranked player in the world, is in great form as of late, and that is continuing this week on the Ladies European Tour in her home country, Australia.
At the Women’s Australian Open, Green entered the second round in a tie for 10th place, four strokes back of Darcey Harry. Green’s front nine while chasing wasn’t what she was looking for.
While Green had an early birdie on the par 5 second hole at Kooyonga Golf Club, she had a bogey on the fourth hole and then dropped two strokes on the short par 3 seventh. She did close out the up-and-down front with a nice birdie on the par 5 ninth hole.
Green really rounded into strong form on the back, grabbing birdies on 11, 13, 14 and 16 to close the lead to just one stroke behind Celine Herbín of France.
Green’s putting, particularly on the back nine, was in prime form. When she gets rolling with that club, she is about as good as anyone in the world. It has been a major reason for her recent success despite not having her usual caddie, David Buhai.
In Green’s previous two starts this year on the LPGA Tour, she has a seventh place finish and a win. This week, in her home country, she can continue to build up that strong momentum.
