On a morning where many players were just trying their hardest to grind out pars, Haeran Ryu posted an incredible finish to take the solo lead heading into the final round.
The Sunday morning round three finish at the Chevron Championship was the hardest the Club at Carlton Woods played all week. With wind, wet conditions and cold air, players were falling out of contention left and right. It was Haeran Ryu who not only weathered the conditions, she thrived in them.
Ryu shot -3 to vault herself into the solo lead ahead of superstars Nelly Korda and Brooke Henderson who sit one back at -10. Ryu birdied her first two shots back out on the course, 13 and 14, then finished with one on 18. She saw very little stress throughout the round.
Korda, to her credit, didn’t give anything away either. She finished the round with a -3 69. She was the only player in the field to shoot in the 60’s every round. While Korda didn’t gain any strokes, she parred every hole after the restart, it was all she needed to be in solid contention.
Featured group coverage of the final two threesomes, including Ryu, Korda and Henderson, will start at Noon est., on ESPN+ before switching over to Peacock at 2:00 est., and NBC at 3:00.
