We are over halfway through the 2026 Curtis Cup with the United States having another strong session. Here are some of the quick takeaways from the third:
- The United States team did exactly what it needed to Saturday morning, grabbing its third 2-1 session win in a row. Now, Team USA really has GB&I on the ropes, looking for an afternoon knockout.
- GB&I needs to win the third session likely to have any chance at all. Even halving the match at 1.5-1.5 would put them down three heading into the final day. The United States has so many players in good form, it feels necessary for GB&I to get at least those two points to make it interesting.
- If it was allowed, I would advise Angela Stanford to bring Farrah O’Keefe onto this year’s Solheim Cup team. If she turned pro and got LPGA status, I would do it in a heart beat. She has been the emotional leader and clearly best closer this week, with a 3-0 record. Lock her in for future Solheim Cup squads. It has been a joy to watch.
- Kiara Romero and Asterisk Talley rebounded well from yesterday afternoon, with almost the exact opposite result. They won 4&3 and really turned it all around on the back nine. On hole eight they both seemed a bit low energy and down, but that changed at the turn. Credit to both of them.
- Sophia Fullbrook and Patience Rhodes once again looked strong and are clearly the best duo for this GB&I team. Though they lost the second session yesterday, they have provided two of the three points for GB&I.
- Anna Davis has had an up-and-down week at 1-2, but she played well in the afternoon despite losing a match that was never really in her and Avery Weed’s control. I think there is reason for optimism out of her moving forward.
- This GB&I team may not show it in its record, but the golf has been solid. The short games are impressive and there’s been some players punching above their weight and doing a great job.
