Team USA Solheim Cup captain Angela Stanford has selected the three players who will fill out the team at Bernardus in just a couple of weeks. Those players are Megan Khang, Rose Zhang and Lindy Duncan.
Khang, Zhang and Duncan will join Nelly Korda, Angel Yin, Jennifer Kupcho, Yealimi Noh, Auston Kim, Lauren Coughlin, Allisen Corpuz, Andrea Lee and Alison Lee, who all qualified automatically.
Stanford stressed that the most important focuses for her picks were chemistry and putting. With that context these three picks make a lot of sense.
This will be Megan Khang’s fifth appearance in the Solheim Cup, and it was a no-brainer pick. Despite her poor form this year, Khang has been a major leader vocally over the past two competitions. She’s also excellent on the course in this event, having gone eight matches without a loss. Even with her poor play, she should be one of the best players on this team.
Rose Zhang, like Khang, felt like a fairly easy pick. Injuries and inconsistent form over the last two years likely made Stanford worry a bit, but her excellent play in 2024, where she led the American team with four points, made her a reliable pick. She played well last week in Portland to give that extra bit of confidence and is a phenomenal putter when at her best.
Lindy Duncan was the only one who probably had to sweat it out over the weekend, but she will be making her debut as the oldest player on the team at 35. While she is one of the rookies on the team, she fits the theme of chemistry. Lindy Duncan won the Heather Farr Perseverance Award in 2025, which is voted on by fellow LPGA Tour players. It is no secret that she is one of the most popular players on the Tour.
Kiara Romero gained support late as a potential last-minute selection, but seeing how much chemistry mattered to Stanford, it isn’t a surprise to see a lot of veteran leadership on this team.
