It has taken until the middle of June but the LPGA Tour has its first debut winners of the season as Yana Wilson and Gina Kim won the Dow Championship by two strokes over Hyo Joo Kim and Hye-Jin Choi.
The two young Americans entered the day one back of Kim and Choi, but had a massive boost on the fifth hole when Kim holed out for an eagle on the par 4 fifth hole that really got their round going. Wilson provided some fireworks as well, hitting some fantastic putts and approach shots.
The result was already a formality when the two stepped onto the par 3 18th hole, but Kim put an exclamation point on the title with a shot to within five feet. She missed it, but tapped in for an easy par to secure the title.
This is Kim’s first win in four seasons on the LPGA Tour. She had to go back to the Epson Tour in 2025 to re-secure her card, which she did easily, placing third on the season-long money list.
For Wilson, this is her rookie season after a great year on the Epson Tour where she finished second in The Race for the Card. At just 19-years-old she becomes the first teenager to win on the LPGA Tour since Alexa Pano in 2023.
