After two rounds at the PIF Saudi Ladies Invitational, one of the biggest stars in the world of golf, Jeeno Thitikul, leads by three strokes over Annabelle Fuller and Somi Lee.
After a decent first round score of 67, Thitikul kicked it into gear in the second, shooting a terrific -8 64 on a day that didn’t surrender too many low scores. Thitikul shot two strokes better for the day than any other player.
Thitikul remarkably had nine birdies with one bogey. That one bogey also came on a potential birdie hole, the par 5 15, which Thitikul three putted. She recovered well with birdies on the final two holes, including a clutch putt on 17 and a terrific approach on 18.
Thitikul, the No. 4 ranked player in the Rolex Rankings, is looking for her fifth-career win on the Ladies European Tour and 17th professional win overall despite being only 21. It would also mark two consecutive wins for the Thai superstar, as she won her last start at the CME Tour Championship on the LPGA Tour. Dating back to September 1st, Thitikul hasn’t finished outside of the top eight individually in an event, marking seven in a row. This very well could be the eighth.
In the team competition, over night individual leader Somi Lee led her team to victory by two strokes over the team of Stephanie Kyriacou. Lee was joined by Minsum Kim, Nastasia Nadaud and Amy Taylor. They finished at -34, bolstered by two birdies on the final hole.
The final round will air Saturday early morning on Golf Channel in the United States.
