The year 2024 is done, and its time to look back at the totality of women’s golf, and look at what players had the best year over the last 365 days:
Nelly Korda – Nelly Korda’s 2024 is highly publicized, with seven LPGA Tour victories, five in a row at one point, a major championship and her first Solheim Cup team victory. Off the course, Korda also made waves, thanks to her often played T-Mobile commercials, her appearance at the Met Gala and her SI Swimsuit Edition shoot. Rarely has a women’s golfer crossed over into mainstream sports media like this.
Asterisk Talley – Asterisk Talley really made a name for herself in 2024 as an amateur. The 15-year-old won five times in 2024 and placed top-10 in almost every big event. She tied for low-am at the U.S. Women’s Open, finished runner-up at the U.S. Girl’s Junior and U.S. Women’s Amateur and finished top 10 in both the Mizuho Americas Open and The Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Every time amateur golf was on a TV screen, Talley was in contention.
Stacy Lewis – For the second time in a row, Stacy Lewis was the United States Solheim Cup captain. In 2023, she did a great job but ended up just short, tying the event. In 2024, she brought her same analytical approach, but really excelled as a motivator. The United States team bought in to her message, and played with a sense of urgency rarely seen in American team golf. Lewis has said she doesn’t want the job again, but she still deserves to be the first person asked again.
Lydia Ko – What else is there to say about Lydia Ko’s? 2024. Ko dominated all year, winning three LPGA Tour events, her third-career major and her third Olympic medal, this time a gold. She clinched her spot in the LPGA Hall of Fame and reinvigorated her career after a down season in 2023. The future still looks bright for the women’s golf legend.
Rachel Heck – The Stanford senior couldn’t have possibly gone out in a better way than she did in 2024, winning her second-career team national championship. While Heck announced she would be staying an amateur, her college career was one of the greats, and could’ve been even better if not for injury issues. Those same injuries made the final result that much sweeter though, as she was one of the strongest players for a stacked Cardinal team.
