The 2026 Solheim Cup is officially underway, follow along here for updates throughout the entire first day of all the action from Bernardus (All times Eastern):
Session 1 Foursomes:
1:43 AM – The first match is off the first tee with a beautiful drive from Allisen Corpuz and a bit of a nervy shot from Lottie Woad, she’s in fine position though.
1:51 AM – Lottie Woad nails a putt for birdie of over 15 feet on the opening hole to grab a 1UP lead for Europe in match 1.
2:08 AM – After a bad tee shot by Celine Boutier that led to a Nanna Koerstz Madsen punch out, Boutier hits an excellent approach to get a tie on the first hole in match 2, on the second hole, Nelly Korda hits a brilliant pitch that set up a birdie putt for Corpuz to win the hole and tie match 1.
2:19 AM – All four groups are now on the course, Europe took a lead in match three on the first hole despite a great effort from Andrea Lee on a nearly made long putt. Esther Henseleit hit a fantastic approach in and Leona Maguire buried the putt with an emphatic fist pump.
2:26 AM – Linn Grant and Jennifer Kupcho both shake off their poor Solheim Cup performances in 2024 with excellent approaches on hole one, both teams make short birdie putts.
2:46 AM – A lot of good golf being played, but the Europeans in particular look strong early. The Europeans have blue on the board in matches 2, 3 and 4, but match three is the only one that lead is more than one hole, with Maguire and Henseleit being 2UP through 3.
2:56 AM – The United States has put red on the board for the first time today thanks to a nice chip from Corpuz that was conceded then for par, Europeans made bogey on the sixth hole.
3:21 AM – Korda and Corpuz are starting to take control of their match against Hull and Woad with wins on three holes in a row. They now have a 3UP lead through eight holes. Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin have also taken some blue off the board and tied match 2.
3:54 AM – Linn Grant and Maja Stark are destroying Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho. The American group can’t get anything going and Stark and Grant haven’t given them any room for error. That feels like a match that will be over quick.
4:16 AM – Grant just had the biggest highlight reel of the morning, hitting in for par from the greenside bunker to tie the hole. She has quieted a lot of the criticism about her concerning her play in the 2024 Solheim Cup. At about the same time, Corpuz and Korda took a 4UP lead with six to play.
4:27 AM – Madsen and Boutier have been plagued by inconsistency and some truly terrible mistakes today, but Madsen just made a long putt to tie the 11th hole. If she would have missed, they would go down three with six to play.
4:33 AM – It has taken less than three hours for the United States to clinch at least a half point with Korda and Corpuz going up five with five to play. At the same time, Zhang and Kupcho are making a move on Stark and Grant with two wins in a row.
4:57 AM – With the rain pouring down, The United States has clinched its first full point with Korda and Corpuz defeating Woad and Hull 4&3. Another half point should soon follow with Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin leading by three with five to play.
5:27 AM – Celine Boutier just got a very fortunate drop of free relief inside a penalty area, without that break, this match would likely be over on this hole.
5:33 AM – Europe has officially clinched its first half point in the anchor match as Maja Stark and Linn Grant are 3UP with three to play.
5:38 AM – Madsen misses a short putt to extend the second match, Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin win 3&2 to guarantee at least a split in the first session for the United States.
5:59 AM – Europe gets it’s first full point of the day thanks to the Swedish duo of Maja Stark and Linn Grant, going 3&2 over Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho.
6:04 AM – Europe has guaranteed another half point as the third match out is heading to the 18th hole. It is the only match to get past 16 today.
6:20 AM – Leona Maguire and Esther Henseleit get the second full point 1UP against Lindy Duncan and Andrea Lee. That officially makes the foursomes session a split.
Session 2 Fourball:
7:02 AM – The first group has made its way to the tee where Charley Hull and Lottie Woad from Europe will face Yealimi Noh and Angel Yin.
7:25 AM – The United States draws first blood thanks to a Yealimi Noh birdie on the opening hole.
7:40 AM – Team Europe gets some blue on the board with a birdie from Celine Boutier on the first hole, much needed after her performance in the morning.
8:47 AM – Charley Hull and Lottie Woad are starting to really show their strength, taking a 3UP lead through six after a great putt for birdie on the par 3 6th.
9:21 AM – Megan Khang and Alison Lee are starting to find a groove, winning two holes in a row to bring their match back to even. The only blue on the board is from Charley Hull and Lottie Woad in the first group.
9:25 AM – All of a sudden, there is a United States charge. Team USA now leads in matches three and four and has a tie in the second match. Yealimi Noh and Angel Yin have also cut Hull and Woad’s lead to one.
9:41 AM – As quickly as the United States took momentum, Europe has snatched it back as there is currently no red on the board after great birdies by Carlota Ciganda and Mimi Rhodes.
10:12 AM – The United States have the middle matches still tied, but Europe is starting to show some strength in the other two with Hull and Woad taking a 3UP lead and Ciganda and López Ramirez taking a 2UP lead.
10:48 AM – Europe has taken full control of this session, going up in three of the matches. The rookie team of Rhodes and Nadaud is showing a lot of heart and grit.
11:24 AM – Team USA has clinched the first half point in the second session as Megan Khang and Alison Lee are 4UP with four to play.
11:37 AM – Team USA has grabbed the first full point of the second session, with Khang and Lee winning 5&3. Alison Lee has doubled her career Solheim Cup point total.
12:06 PM – Yealimi Noh just made one of the greatest birdies I have ever seen to win the 17th hole and pull even in the first match out.
