The Solheim Cup teams are all set with the finalization of the American team. Leading into the competition, we will rank all 24 players in the Solheim Cup for both teams, continuing with Allisen Corpuz
On the surface, it may seem strange to have a player like Corpuz toward the top of this list. She doesn’t have a ton of high results. She quietly plays solid, consistent golf. She has just one win in her career, a major, but three years ago. She isn’t seen as a huge outspoken leader or energy piece and it would seem she would be a low variance, solid player in the Andrea Lee mold.
Why is she this high? She just wins matches.
Corpuz has played in two Solheim Cups now, and has been a massive piece of the depth that has led to the two best recent performances for the United States team.
Corpuz is 5-2-1 in her Solheim Cup career. Most notable when it comes to Corpuz is her pairing with Nelly Korda in foursomes. Corpuz and Korda are 4-0-0 when paired together, with polar opposite games that mix to make absolute magic. In singles, she is solid. She lost a close match to Maja Stark in 2023, but was dominant against Anna Nordqvist in 2024.
If there is one concern, if you want to call it that, is a lack of versatility. She is 0-1-1 in fourball and I wouldn’t be shocked to see her sit out those sessions entirely. Still, if she can provide foursomes points, you don’t really mind if she has struggles in fourball.
Another boost for Corpuz? Solid form. Corpuz has a couple top-five finishes this season, most recently and notably in Boston her last time out. She had a legitimate chance to win that event and Stanford has to be thrilled at how her game looks.
Corpuz, at her best, is one of the better putters for the United States and is the most accurate player on the team. She isn’t going to beat herself or put her partner in trouble, which is probably a reason she is such a good player in foursomes. If you give Korda a well-placed drive every hole, she is going to put the ball within make range on the green.
Corpuz doesn’t necessarily have the high-end potential of the four players ranked above her, who all have four-point potential. I don’t think Corpuz will get to that number, but she has maybe the highest floor of any player in this competition. It would be shocking if she doesn’t provide at least two points.
Bet big on Corpuz this week. She has the potential to continue building a phenomenal Solheim Cup legacy.
