In a year full of comeback victories like Minjee Lee, Hyo Joo Kim and Brooke Henderson, Sei Young Kim can now be added to that list in her home country of Korea.
Despite an excellent group of chasers, Sei Young Kim still dominated, winning wire-to-wire by four strokes, a lead she opened up in round two and never looked back from.
Kim’s final round 67 may have been her overall best round of the week, hitting 12/14 fairways and 16 greens in regulation. For the week she missed just nine greens. Kim had one early bogey, but made six birdies the rest of the way without any more dropped shots.
In second place is Nasa Hataoka, another player looking to break a winless drought. Hataoka performed well with a matching -5 67, but it was going to take a whole lot more than that to defeat Kim this week.
Many consider Kim to be the player with the highest upside on a week-to-week basis. Kim still holds the record for lowest score to par in an LPGA event at -31 in Green Bay in 2018. She showed that same kind of incredible skill this week.
This was the 13th LPGA Tour victory for the major champion and former LPGA Tour Player of the Year, but her first since 2020.
