Michelle Wie West announced today on Instagram that she would be coming out of retirement to play in the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles.
“With one final year of eligibility from my victory in 2014 and the Championship headed to an iconic venue that means so much to me, I am excited to announce that I’ll be teeing it up at the U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera in June!” Wie West wrote on her Instagram.
Wie West is a five-time LPGA Tour champion and won her lone major at the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open at Pinehurst. She is still considered by many to be one of the most popular players ever and greatest ambassadors to the league.
Wie West last played a full schedule on the Tour in 2018 when she made 15/17 cuts and won the HSBC Women’s World Championship. Her last event played was at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach.
Earlier this year, Wie West announced she would be joining the WTGL league, which will start competition later this year.
The U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera will be played from June 4-7, 2026.
