Madelene Sagström, the 33-year-old, three-time LPGA Tour winner, announced on Instagram that she and her husband Jack Clark are expecting their first child.
“We’re excited to start our biggest adventure and a new wonderful journey. Hopefully everything will continue to go well and we will welcome our baby boy in September. The start to 2026 has been the most wonderful and also nerve wracking time for us but we’re so blessed and can’t wait to call ourselves parents” wrote Sagström on her Instagram.
This will have some major ramifications on the 2026 Solheim Cup. Sagström has played four times for Team Europe, including on the last three squads. In 2024, Sagström was one of only two players on Europe to have a winning record, going 2-1. She played alongside 2026 captain and fellow Swede Anna Nordqvist in the four ball format.
Sagström ranks No. 54 in the Rolex Rankings and would likely have had to rely on one of the four captain’s selections to get a spot on the team. Sagström is currently the highest ranked European in the world not currently qualifying.
Sagström joins Georgia Hall as European Solheim Cup regulars who will likely miss the Solheim Cup after announcing their pregnancies.
