For the third time on the LPGA Tour this year, Lydia Ko has won. This time, it was by five strokes in a dominant performance in Cincinnati.
At the 2024 Kroger Queen City Championship, Ko was incredible on Sunday, coming into the day with a two-stroke deficit to Jeeno Thitikul. While Thitikul didn’t necessarily play poorly, shooting -2 on Sunday, she saw an LPGA Hall-of-Famer at her best in the final round.
Ko shot an incredible -9 63, the round of the week. Riding a hot driver over the last couple of months, Ko hit 12 fairways, which makes it 51/56 on the week. For a player not historically known for her straight hitting off the tee, that club has really cooperated with her as of late.
Predictably for Ko, playing well meant a hot putter and short game. Ko incredibly only had 24 putts on Sunday. Ko had just 111 putts for the week.
This is Ko’s third win of the season, joining her titles at the Tournament of Champions and the AIG Women’s Open. In addition to the three official wins on the LPGA Tour, she also won the Olympic Gold Medal this year a little over a month ago. In a career filled with great moments, the last six weeks have been as good as it gets for the hall-of-fame legend.
Ko will head to the Korean LPGA Tour for a week before beginning her quest for a 23rd LPGA title on the Asian swing upcoming.
