The first round of the Mizuho Americas Open is wrapping up, and some of the biggest stars on the LPGA Tour are out in front early.
Andrea Lee, an LPGA Tour winner and two-time Solheim Cup player for the United States is leading at -6. She birdied four out of her last five holes and made eight birdies overall on her way to a first round 66.
As usual, Lee was immaculate with her accuracy, hitting all 14 fairways and 16/18 greens. She also had just 29 putts on the day.
Following just behind Lee are LPGA Hall of Famer Lydia Ko and world No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul.
Ko, who has struggled a bit this year by her standards, made five birdies, one eagle and two bogeys. She hit 10/14 fairways and 13/18 greens. That, combined with her 29 putts, put her at -5 for the round, sitting one stroke back.
As is usually the case, Jeeno Thitikul kept the mistakes to a minimum on her way to a -5 67.
Thitikul had four birdies, one eagle and one bogey with 13/14 fairways hit and 16/18 greens in regulation. She kept every part of her game in check, and looks to be in solid shape for a potential repeat win at the Mizuho Americas Open.
The second round of this event kicks off tomorrow morning in New Jersey.
