It was announced yesterday that for the first time, the world’s best women’s golfers will be headed to one of America’s most iconic golf courses.
The 2028 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will be held at Bethpage Black near New York City. The course, famous for being brutally difficult, has hosted many men’s events in the past, but will be hosting this championship for the first time.
The highly ranked public golf course, established in 1936, has hosted three major championships, and will be hosting the upcoming Ryder Cup next week.
Bethpage Black joins Hazeltine (2026), Congressional (2027) and PGA Frisco (2031) as announced sites for the Women’s PGA Championship.
The LPGA Tour is not new to the era, with one of the most popular events on the schedule being the Mizuho Americas Classic held at Liberty National just across the water from Manhattan. The 2015 edition of this event was also held at Westchester Country Club.
