For the second time in 2025, Hyo Joo Kim has won on a major tour, this time in her home country, The Republic of Korea.
Playing in The Aramco Korea Championship, Kim was, unsurprisingly, the model of consistency. She was the only player in the field without an over par round. While the fireworks weren’t strong, her best round being the third, where she was -3, she was never above 70.
For the event, Kim was -7, beating Swiss rising star Chiara Tamburlini by two strokes. She made 11 birdies on the week with only four bogeys. Even, consistent play has been a trademark of Kim’s since she has turned professional, and has led her to seven LPGA Tour titles and a major championship.
This year has been something of a renaissance for Kim. After a weaker season without a win and only three top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour in 2024, Kim is back in the top 10 in the Rolex Rankings and ranks No. 2 in the Race to the CME Globe Standings. She now has a win both on the LPGA Tour and Ladies European tour in 2025, and just two weeks ago she made the playoff at The Chevron Championship.
Kim is playing really strong golf right now, particularly around the greens, which is a sign that she is back to the form that made her one of the best players in the world just a couple years ago.
