The women’s golf season is upon us, here are five bold predictions for the upcoming season:
Jeeno Thitikul Wins Multiple Majors – It seems to be a matter of time until Thitikul wins her first major, she has put herself into contention enough and clearly looks to be the best player in the world right now. My gut sense says that when she wins her first, it would be a bit of a domino effect for the young Thai star. She has to first learn how to win one, but after that, she could put up some historic numbers.
Lilia Vu Bounces Back – Vu herself would probably acknowledge that 2025 was a bit of a nightmare, but over the last two seasons, where she has dealt with injuries and consistently poor play, there are little beacons of light that show she still can be one of the best players in the world. I won’t say she is back to her Player of the Year level, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see her get a win and a few additional top-10 finishes.
Akie Iwai is in the Player of the Year Race – Akie Iwai’s potential is sky high, and I think we are going to see a more consistent player in 2026. Iwai was in positive strokes gained in all five major categories, ranking No. 17 overall on the Tour. She is especially strong with her ball striking stats but if she can get just a little better with her putter, she can put up some crazy numbers with how aggressive she plays. Look out for a big breakout season.
Europe Wins the Solheim Cup – Generally the United States has the advantage in the Solheim Cup on paper, and this year will likely be no different. Europe is coming in as the underdog, and will likely have less experience in the event for the first time in awhile. I think this works in Europe’s advantage. Getting some hungry, young stars like Lottie Woad and Ingrid Lindblad could bring some new life and energy to the home team.
Jin Young Ko Returns to an Elite Level – Like Vu, I am not going to say that we see Ko get back to her level of play from 2019 and 2021, but I do think we will see her in contention a bit more. Ko had just four top-10 finishes, with two of those coming in the first two events of the season. I think we see her get a win in 2026 and maybe some high finishes in a couple of major championships.
