Heading into the final day of the LPGA Legends Championship, two-time major winner Cristie Kerr leads by two strokes over Heather Bowie Young, Giulia Sergas and Leta Lindley.
Kerr didn’t have an easy ride to the lead on Friday, as scores were overall higher on the second day. Kerr made three bogeys, but made up for it with four bogeys to shoot -1 to get herself to -4 for the week. It really was a battle of who could come out the most unscathed.
Kerr’s birdies were pretty spread out, coming on 1, 8, 13 and 18. She said her birdie on the last hole was the best of her day after a bad bogey on the 17th.
Kerr was in contention all the way through last year in this event held at Copper Rock in Utah, finishing in second place to Solheim Cup captain Angela Stanford. Stanford is currently in the top 10 here, but six strokes back.
This could be a big week for Kerr, as today is her husband’s birthday, something she said after the round she would like to win for.
The final round of The LPGA Legends Championship kicks off this morning in Utah.
