Through two rounds, LPGA star Carlota Ciganda leads by one stroke at the Aramco Houston Championship on the LET.
The Houston Championship, played at Golfcrest Country Club, features a strong field of LPGA stars including Celine Boutier, Charley Hull, Alison Lee, Danielle Kang and Ciganda. It is the 35-year-old from Spain who took control of the event in the second round.
On Saturday, Ciganda shot a spectacular -8 64 to take a one shot lead over her countrywoman Nuria Iturrioz. Ciganda had nine birdies and one bogey and played a well-rounded game overall. Ciganda hit 12 fairways, 14 greens and needed only 25 putts to complete her round.
Ciganda, a three-time LPGA Tour winner and seven-time Solheim Cup team Europe player, is looking for her ninth-career victory on the Ladies European Tour.
Ciganda isn’t alone as far as stars at the top though, as her Solheim Cup teammates Charley Hull and Celine Boutier are both in contention, sitting four strokes back at -6. An elite round from either of them could steal this one from the Spanish star.
The final round of the Aramco Houston Championship will be played today with some air times on Golf Channel.
