An incredible run of birdies on the back nine put world No. 1 and LPGA Player of the Year Nelly Korda back in the winner’s circle once again at The Annika driven by Gainbridge.
It wasn’t a flawless round for Korda, who struggled once again on the opening stretch of holes. Korda bogeyed holes 2, 6 and 8 on the back front nine while only picking up a birdie on the par five 7th.
The back nine was a completely different story though, as Nelly rolled in putts for birdie on every hole from 11-15. This included an amazing tee shot on the par three 15. Her streak was broken in no small part by a bad break on 16, when her tee shot found a divot in the fairway.
Korda continued her ball-striking dominance, hitting 13/14 fairways and 15 greens. She had a misleading 31 putts, but the flat stick was in prime form on the back nine where she shot -5.
Third-round leader Charley Hull couldn’t really get anything going Sunday, shooting +1 for the round and finishing in a tie for second with Jin Hee Im and Weiwei Zhang, three strokes behind Korda.
This is the third time in four years Korda has won this event. This is also the fourth time she has come from behind to win in the final round this season. Her seven wins are the most by an American in a single season since Beth Daniel in 1990, she is the first player to win seven in a year since Yani Tseng in 2011.
