The Augusta National Women’s Amateur returns this week, with two qualifying rounds on Wednesday and Thursday before the remaining players take on Augusta National on Saturday. Here are five players to keep an eye on in the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur:
Ingrid Lindblad
The No. 1 amateur player in the world is likely a future LPGA star considering her already impressive resumé. Though Lindblad has had a sensational amateur career, she hasn’t won any of the major women’s amateur events yet. The LSU senior could cement her legacy this week.
Rachel Heck
Heck watched her best friend Rose Zhang win last year, as she looks to make it two Stanford players in a row to grab the title. Heck won the 2021 individual Division I National Championship and the Annika Award that same year. Heck is the most interesting player in the field, as she has recently decided to not pursue professional golf because of injuries and her work with the Air Force ROTC.
Amari Avery
Avery (above) made the cut in two of the 2023 majors on the LPGA Tour, (Chevron Championship and U.S. Women’s Open). This was after she was the top player on a USC team that beat Stanford in the Division I National Championship semifinals.
Rachel Kuehn
If you watched Full Swing season 2 on Netflix, you are well aware of Wake Forest star Rachel Kuehn. Kuehn was heavily featured in episode five of the series as Alex Fitzpatrick’s girlfriend. She is accomplished herself though. Kuehn was the top player on the 2023 National Championship team and is a two-time ACC Women’s Golfer of the Year winner.
Megha Ganne
Stanford’s Ganne is undoubtedly still known for her incredible performance at the 2021 U.S. Women’s Amateur at Olympic Club. Ganne was tied for third heading into the final round and was staring down superstars like Lexi Thompson and Nasa Hataoka.
