Aphrodite Deng, the No. 6 ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, has committed to play her college golf at Stanford starting in 2028.
“Beyond blessed, humbled, and incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to play D1 golf for Stanford University. This dream started years ago with a tiny club and a big vision. To Coach Walker, Coach Brooke and Coach Demi, thank you for believing in that vision and giving me the honor of a lifetime to represent Stanford,” said Deng.
Stanford is coming off its third NCAA Division I Championship since 2020, and without any argument, has produced more stars than any other school in recent years.
Deng, from Canada, is a two-time champion of the junior division of the Mizuho Americas Open and won the U.S. Girls’ Junior championship in 2025. She has played twice on the LPGA Tour in 2026 and made the cut both times. At the U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera, Deng finished 17th.
Deng will join No. 8 ranked amateur in the world Asterisk Talley, who will head to Stanford in 2027. If Talley stays at Stanford for multiple years, they should form the most star-studded college duo since Rachel Heck and Rose Zhang were in the cardinal and white.
Stanford currently has three of the top seven amateurs in the world on its roster. Deng will continue the legacy for legendary Head Coach Anne Walker.
