Anne Chen won the Epson Tour title at Indian Wells Golf Resort near Palm Springs in a playoff thriller over Sophia Schubert.
Chen and Schubert dominated much of the week at Indian Wells, with Schubert taking the lead after round one and Schubert leading heading into the weekend. Late Sunday afternoon, they were clearly separating themselves from the bunch, getting to -22, three strokes clear of their closest contender.
The 18th hole, playing primarily as a par hole on the final day, resulted in just that. Three pars in a row on the first three playoff holes, sending it over to the par 5 13th to try and determine the final result. On that hole, Chen was aggressive, going for the green in two, while Schubert was forced to layup because of a bad angle with a tree. She did hit a spectacular shot though and both players made birdie to move on to a fifth playoff hole.
On that fifth playoff hole, Schubert came up short of the very tricky green, a big mistake with how tough it was playing all day. That set Chen up to need just a par to win the tournament, which she handled with ease.
Chen earned her way onto the LPGA Tour, though not with full status, with her first Epson Tour win. On the other side, Schubert cemented her full-time status with her runner-up after a good season on this tour.
Both players will be in action next on the LPGA Tour in 2026.
