Grit, Grace, and the Game She Loves
I recently had the chance to play a round with Giulia Sergas, one of Italy’s most accomplished professional golfers—and the experience was as insightful as it was inspiring.

Born in the Italian Alps, Giulia picked up a golf club at the age of nine and went on to spend 15 years competing on the LPGA Tour. Over the course of her career, she played in 43 major championships and earned eight top-10 finishes. She represented Europe in the 2013 Solheim Cup and was part of the Italian Olympic team in Rio in 2016. She’s among a very select group of Italian women to have reached this level in the sport.
But her story doesn’t follow a straight line. In 2016, feeling that her game was no longer where she wanted it to be, Giulia stepped away from professional golf and took a job at a restaurant. During that time, people began asking her for lessons. What started casually evolved into something deeper—Giulia began to study the game in a new way, this time through the lens of teaching. Her time off the tour didn’t weaken her connection to golf—it deepened it.
Now, she’s back, competing on the LPGA’s Legends Tour with a fresh perspective and a renewed appreciation for the game. She shared how playing today continues to teach her new things. For Giulia, golf isn’t just about achievement—it’s about potential. She spoke candidly about the many aspiring athletes who have the talent to succeed but are often derailed by life’s challenges. Her message is clear: keep going. In her eyes, sports mirror life—and resilience is as important as skill.
Her athletic mindset extends to what she wears on the course. Giulia is known for playing in dresses, choosing Adidas for its performance-driven fit and sleek style. “The golf swing is an athletic move,” she told me. “I want to dress as an athlete.” For her, that means garments that move with the body, deliver all-day comfort, and still look sharp. And yes—pockets are non-negotiable. “Women today are fit,” she added. “We have to look good and feel good. It’s part of being confident out there.”

Off the course, Giulia has launched Italy Dream Golf, @italydreamgolf, a curated travel experience where she personally leads small groups through Italy, blending golf with culture, food, wine, and the charm of authentic Italian life. It’s golf through the eyes of a true Italian—personal, immersive, and unforgettable. For more information, contact Giulia directly at giuliasergas@gmail.com
Spending time with Giulia was more than a round of golf—it was a glimpse into a life defined by determination, reinvention, and love for the game. She’s still learning, still evolving, and still swinging with purpose.
