The WTGL rosters are set, the schedule is in place, now it is time to take a look at each of the teams, starting with arguably the most star-studded team in the league, Motor City Golf Club.
Albane Valenzuela
Likely the player who many fans are least familiar with on this team, Valenzuela has still had some strong moments in her career. Valenzuela nearly won the 2023 Chevron Championship and had a strong 2024, where she had three top-10 finishes and a runner-up early in the season. That good 2024 season led to her debut in the Solheim Cup for Europe. Valenzuela is from Switzerland and went to Stanford, she has represented Switzerland in the Olympics all three years that the Olympics have been back for golf.
Brooke Henderson
To this day, despite only one win in the last three seasons, Brooke Henderson may still be the biggest fan favorite on the LPGA Tour. The 14-time LPGA Tour winner and two-time major champion is the greatest Canadian golfer ever. After bursting onto the scene with an eight-stroke victory in Portland as a teenager, she won her first major at 18-years-old. Despite a few off years as of late, Henderson has come storming back with good finishes in majors this season and has moved from outside the top 50 in the world to No. 11 over the course of the last year. Henderson is arguably the biggest name in the entire WTGL field.
Lexi Thompson
Lexi Thompson was arguably the best American player of the 2010s, winning 11 times on the LPGA Tour including a major. She also helped revolutionize the game as far as training and power, consistently being one of the longest hitters on the Tour even through her soft retirement a couple years ago. Thompson still plays relatively regularly on the Tour and continues to draw prime time pairings and large crowds. She did announce her pregnancy recently, which will be an intriguing storyline to follow during the first WTGL season.
Jeeno Thitikul
Thitikul, the Thai superstar, is the highest ranked player in the world in the entire WTGL at No. 2. Thitikul is one of the most fun players to follow both on the course and away from the course, and has won 10 times despite just turning 23-years-old. Thitikul has also won the last two CME Group Tour Championships, which has led to her being the highest earning player in each of those seasons. Thitikul has really every skill on the golf course, she drives it well, hits incredible iron shots and is arguably the best putter in the world when she gets in rhythm.
Ruoning Yin
Onto Thitikul’s best friend, China’s Ruoning Yin is a six-time LPGA Tour winner, including just a few weeks ago, and a major champion at the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Yin is explosively talented, especially as a ball striker, but has dealt with nagging injuries the past couple years that have impacted her winning output. Still, when she is healthy and in good form, she is easily a top-five player in the world and adds to this stacked team. If any of the WTGL rosters would qualify as a superteam, it is this one.
