The CPKC returns to Canada this week. While this is already one of the most prestigious non-majors on the LPGA Tour schedule, it is even more important for some American players. Come Monday morning, Angela Stanford will make her final selections for the United States Solheim Cup team. Here are some of the players who need strong weeks in order to make one last impression to Angela Stanford:
Kiara Romero – This isn’t Romero’s only impression to Stanford, but it is still a big week. While this is her first week as a professional, she is now eligible as an LPGA Tour member to make this team. The player who has been the top amateur in the world for the past year has had some strong moments while playing in professional events as an amateur, with top-10 finishes in last year’s Portland Classic and this year’s U.S. Women’s Open, but it would still be a risky pick to take a player this new to the Tour. A great result would ease those worries.
Lilia Vu – Lilia Vu probably has very little chance of making this team, especially with the health concerns surrounding Rose Zhang and Angel Yin, it probably wouldn’t be advantageous to take another injury prone player. That being said, it still feels strange that Vu isn’t going to be on this team. A player that won LPGA Tour Player of the Year just in 2023 and is still in her 20s. If Vu can find something this week and provide her best result of the year, Stanford may take the two-time major champion. And if you scoff at that, she still was on the team scouting trip in the Netherlands just a month ago.
Jenny Bae – You can’t be more on the bubble than Jenny Bae, who sits just outside of qualifying on Rolex Rankings and is top 12 in the Solheim Cup standings. Everything points to her being on the team, it just still feels like she is holding on for dear life. The potential addition of Romero does not help out her situation, where she no longer is the young player with the most upside. I think she needs a good result here to secure a spot, because a captain’s pick just doesn’t feel like a guarantee. Same goes for Lucy Li.
Alison Lee – I’ve come around to thinking Alison Lee could have a pretty secure spot here. If Duncan or Bae jumps her in the Rolex Rankings, it would be fairly easy for Stanford to take Zhang, Megan Khang and Lee and be done with it. All three are experienced and good pieces in the team room. Still, with how messy those final few spots will be, Lee would obviously love to secure her spot automatically. Lee is in control mostly of her own destiny as well, since she doesn’t have to make up any ground in the Rolex Rankings.
Lindy Duncan – Duncan has been holding on to a spot on the roster for a long time, and that finally slipped away in the last week when Alison Lee overtook her on Rolex Rankings. Duncan is an interesting case. At 35-years-old, she could bring that type of enthusiasm that Sarah Schmelzel and Lauren Coughlin brought in 2024, which really seemed to lift the rest of the team. On the other hand, her form hasn’t been nearly as strong as it was in 2025, she brings no experience in the event and she likely would be a one-and-done player. It will be intriguing, as Duncan is one of the most revered players on Tour from her fellow competitors.
