The LPGA Tour continues its European swing this week at the Scottish Open, held once again at Dundonald Golf Links. Here is a list of the players with odds to target this week and the players to be skeptical of:
Odds to Target:
Lottie Woad (+1,600) – Woad is my personal pick to win this week, so at the fourth best odds, I feel very confident in the player who is defending her first LPGA Tour win. Woad hasn’t finished spectacularly as of late, as evidenced by the Evian Championship and the Meijer LPGA Classic, but her form looks very good. Coming off a fairly dominant win here last year, target Lottie Woad.
Ayaka Furue (+3,000) – It is pretty startling to look and see Furue just hanging on to a spot in the top 50 of the Rolex Rankings. Just a couple years ago, she was winning her first major championship and was arguably the most consistent player in the world. She has had some better play as of late, but only has one individual top-10 finish this year. She missed the cut here last year, but has had good finishes here including a win in 2022.
Minjee Lee (+5,000) – There’s little in Minjee Lee’s game this year that should give confidence in her game, but getting a three-time major winner just one year removed from strong play is a great value. Lee is coming off two missed cuts in a row, including an ugly week at Evian, but she had a great bounceback week here in 2024 where she very nearly won. I would expect a similar, good week here in Scotland.
Odds to be Skeptical of:
Nelly Korda (+500) – It isn’t really a bad move ever to bet for Nelly Korda, the No. 1 ranked player in the world right now, I just don’t know if this is the week for her. Korda has mixed results on links courses and is coming off her first missed cut in a couple years. I still think she is in for a strong result here, but at the best odds by far, I think there is better odds for the money.
Charley Hull (+2,000) – Hull is up fairly high in the odds for the week, but she isn’t a slam dunk. She has had promising results as of late, a good charge at Riviera and she had a solid finish at Evian, but there hasn’t been a lot of great results yet. She has played better recently on links courses but doesn’t historically love them. Like Korda, I do think she will have a solid week, just don’t necessarily see a win.
Ina Yoon (+2,500) – Yoon has given a bit of everything over the last eight tournaments or so, other than a win. She had a great finish at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, but one where she lost a large lead and absolutely struggled with the pressure of contention. Yoon has a ton of game, I’m just not sure I’d use these odds to try and get a win this week.
