Megan Schofill, the 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion, is leading the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic heading into the final round by two strokes over Amari Avery and Lauren Olivares.
Schofill started her round red hot, coming in a few strokes back of the lead, erasing the deficit almost immediately. Schofill made four birdies in her first six holes before dropping her first shot of the day on nine.
She made up for that bogey right away though, making her fifth birdie of the day on 10. Schofill had a chaotic final four holes, making two more birdies but also her second bogey of the day to finish up a round of -5 66.
Schofill didn’t have the best day out of the fairways, hitting just 11/18 greens, but she did hit 12/13 fairways and had only 24 putts, a testament both to her putting ability and her scrambling from off the greens.
Schofill played her college golf at Auburn and is most known for her win at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur held in Tennessee. She currently sits at No. 24 in the Race for the Card standings after finishing one spot away from securing her LPGA Tour card in 2025.
