Chevron and the LPGA have announced the new venue for the Chevron Championship, the first major on the LPGA Tour’s schedule, as Memorial Park Golf Course.
This shouldn’t be a surprise to many, Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols first reported the move back in November, and when the LPGA Tour released its initial schedule for 2026, the venue was not specified for the Chevron Championship.
Memorial Park Golf Course places the event closer to downtown Houston and is already the host of a PGA Tour stop, the Texas Children’s Houston Open. Memorial Park Golf Course will also be a unique host of a major as it is a municipal golf course.
Memorial Park Golf Course recently underwent an extensive redesign by Tom Doak.
The 2025 Chevron Championship, held at The Club at Carlton Woods, in particular was controversial for smaller than expected crowds and a grand stand backboard that players took advantage of on the 18th hole to avoid risking the water. It was eventually won by Mao Saigo in a memorable five-way playoff.
For the first 50 years of its existence, the tournament was held at Mission Hils Country Club near Palm Springs. It became famous for the tradition of the winner jumping into Poppie’s Pond on the final hole, which carried over to Carlton Woods. There is no water feature on the final hole of this course, so one of the LPGA’s most recognizable traditions likely ends for now.
