After three rounds of the 2025 Meijer LPGA Classic, we have the most crowded leaderboard of the season with six players tied at -11.
Among the six leaders include four Solheim Cup players, Lexi Thompson from the United States and Nanna Koerstz Madsen, Madelene Sagström and Carlota Ciganda from Europe. Only one player at the top has won this season, Madelene Sagström who won at Shadow Creek. Joining these four are Hye Jin Choi and Sofia Garcia, both looking for their first wins of their career.
Thompson, looking for her first win since 2019, is the lone major champion at the top, and though her usually strong ball striking struggled, her putter and short game excelled. Despite seven missed fairways and greens, she clinched her third round in a row in the 60’s.
The biggest mover was Madelene Sagström, who was out a bit ahead of the leaders, but worked her way to a 67, which was tied for the lowest round of the day. Sagström didn’t have a great day statistically, but like Thompson she had timely putting.
Sofia Garcia, looking for her first win, has played a light schedule so far this season, but found her form early and opened up a fairly commanding lead, before a loose ball hit in the water and three consecutive bogeys. Still, she steadied out and will be in the final group Sunday.
Koerstz Madsen looked like the late favorite to take the lead, with six birdies on the first 16 holes, but she really limped in with a bogey on 17 and a disaster of a six on the par 5 18.
Ciganda and Choi were in the final group and played steady golf, both shooting -3 69.
The final round airs tomorrow morning on Golf Channel and CBS, it should be a terrific finish.
