After a day with a crowded leaderboard at the top, some big names have emerged in the LPGA Legends Championship played at Copper Rock in Utah.
In the end, Charlotta Sörenstam emerged with the round one lead. If that name sounds familiar, it certainly should. Sörenstam is the younger sister of hall of famer Annika. Charlotta won once on the LPGA Tour and played on one European Solheim Cup team. She currently is a golf coach at the famous IMG Academy.
Sörenstam shot -6 to take a three-stroke lead. This was an 18-stroke improvement from her first round +12 score in 2024. Sörenstam pulled away from the pack late, with birdies on 15, 16 and 17. She shot -3 on each nine.
Also in contention is two-time major champion Cristie Kerr, who is in good form following a solid finish in the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic on the Epson Tour. Kerr made four quick birdies on her first six holes, but dropped two shots on the ninth hole.
On the back, she once again looked poised to take control, with two early birdies on the back. She once again gave a stroke back to end a nine, with a bogey on the final hole of the day.
The second of three rounds of the LPGA Legends Championship takes place today. Stay tuned to Fore-All.com for more updates on this tournament.
