The Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown is returning to a familiar city in 2027 for its return to the United States.
The 2027 International Crown will be held right outside of San Francisco at Lake Merced Golf Club. The last International Crown in the United States was just a short distance away at TPC Harding Park.
Lake Merced should be familiar to LPGA Tour fans, as it hosted two separate events. The Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic was held at the course from 2014-2016, with Lydia Ko winning in two of those three years. After a year off, the Tour returned to Lake Merced for the Mediheal Championship. Lydia Ko won once again in 2018, followed by Sei Young Kim, Matilda Castren and Jodi Ewart Shadoff.
Lake Merced Golf Club was originally designed by Willie Lock, but has had some prestigious redesigns. First, the legendary Alister MacKenzie redesigned the bunkers and greens in 1929. Robert Muir Graves had to step in for a reroute of the entire course because of encroaching infrastructure. In 1996, Robert Trent Jones’ son Reese Jones offered an update, with Gil Hanse recently returning it to much of the routing from 1929.
Australia will attempt to defend its Crown with the week of the event being September 6-12, 2027.
